If you’re pulled over by police for speeding, it’s generally not a good idea to offer up some lame excuse in hopes that it gets you off the hook; it will just get you laughed at.

Officers in West Australia recently stopped a driver who was going 20 kilometres over the speed limit. The motorist’s excuse: “The wind was pushing me.” The police later shared the photo on twitter, and the driver was fined $200 and lost two points on his license.

Also, Nigel Mills was traveling to work in his 22,000$ sports car when he was caught by a police speed gun. A court heard how the car— made famous in the Back to the Future film trilogy in which it could travel through time when it hit 88mph— was clocked at a top speed of 89mph. However, a hearing at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court was thrown out after the prosecution could offer no evidence.

Speaking after the hearing, Mills: “I was being prosecuted for going 89mph in a DeLorean. Wasn’t something special meant to happen at 88mph? … I can honestly say I wasn’t trying to time travel.”
